Settling in to the College

Dear Parents and Carers

I am delighted to be able to write to you from our new College. The children are settling in well and responding very positively in exploring the possibilities our new learning environment offers us all. I would like to thank you and your children for your support and understanding over the past few weeks – without it we certainly wouldn’t have been as successful in such a monumental move.

Comic Relief Day
On Friday 18th March the College will have a non-uniform day. We have decided this year to split the money raised, half will continue to go to Comic Relief, however we have also decided to donate half to a local cause.

You may have recently read in the local papers about Ebony Webb, Ebony is a 3 year old girl who has been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour. Due to the complex nature of the positioning of the tumour she is unable to receive treatment her in the UK. The only possibility for Ebony is to travel to the United States of America for Proton Therapy, a specific type of Radiotherapy that will cause minimal damage to the surrounding area of her brain.

Ebony is the step-sister of one of our current students and through discussions with the family we are happy to support their cause in sending Ebony to the USA.

If you wish to donate privately to Ebony’s cause then you can visit ‘Buddies’ Childcare Centre on Burton Road where they are collecting donations, there is also a website / Facebook page in the making which we will provide a link for on our website in the upcoming weeks.

Uniform
We have been working with the students to tighten up on uniform and have noticed that some of the girls have begun to wear skirts. I am pleased with this development, but would like to issue a word of caution – please ensure your daughter’s skirt length is appropriate. As many of you who toured the building will know the stairs are quite steep and I wish to protect their dignity when moving around the building.

Drop Off Zone
Thank you for bearing with us whilst we have finalised the procedures for this – new markings should be in place shortly. Please can I request that students are dropped off in the allocated drop off zone, unless the student has a disability.

Thank you in anticipation of your continued support – I look forward to writing to you soon to let you know more about forthcoming events for the community as well as opportunities in school for your child.

Yours sincerely

Sharon Rossides
