Year 10
In Year 10 students have been undertaking Edexcel’s BTEC Level 2 First Certificate and Diploma in Business. This course has been designed to introduce learners to working in the sector or prepare them for further study. Areas of specialise can include business enterprise and online business.
This course encompasses a broad range of fields, including retail, human resources, finance, law, sales, marketing and administration. They are also developing their skills and techniques to research, develop their ideas and present their work in an effective way. Students are also encouraged to manage their own time and work to deadlines as well as to reflect upon their work and identify areas for improvement and take responsibility for their own learning. These skills are evidenced in a portfolio which may be submitted for additional accreditation in Wider Key Skills.
Year 11
In Year 11 all students have been undertaking Edexcel’s BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Business. This course has been designed to introduce learners to working in the sector or prepare them for further study. Areas of specialise can include business enterprise and online business. Most students are undertaking 6 modules which will be equivalent to Two GCSE grades C and above. Some students will be given the opportunity to complete the full BETC Diploma by undertaking a further two units which is equivalent to 4 GCSE grades C or above.
